Hey Oppo, My wife and I just moved to Colorado Springs from Minneapolis. We accepted on offer on our Minneapolis house yesterday which means I need either find a place to store my Volvo 1800E in Minneapolis or have it shipped to Colorado Springs. I'm not quite finished getting it sorted so driving it out here is out of the question for now.

Does anyone have recommendations on shipping companies?

Here are a few pictures of the car for your time. We had an early snow a few years ago and I didn't get the 1800 in the garage. Good thing the Swede's like snow.

That thing looks amazing! I live on the other side of the Rockies, in Salt Lake. So if you ever want to take the 1800E over the mountains, our Volvos may have to meet.

Are you shipping anything else out there? My last cross country move I was able to get one of my cars included in the same shippment as the rest of my household goods (literally they put the car in and used a platform above it to stack the rest of my stuff) for some trivial amount over what it would have cost without it. I used Allied but I remember Mayflower offered this service as well.

Welcome To Colorado! You're gonna love it here. I have no idea on what shipping company to recommend but you better time it right. The only way into colo springs is through monument and the weather can get pretty intense going through there.

I wish I could help. I couldn't find anyone to ship our cars to Fort Collins, CO. a few years ago from Atlanta. That was 3 cars and I even offered to pick them up in Denver. I ended up towing one behind a UHaul and driving the other 2 at a later time.

I've used uship as a broker (middle man) to ship a few cars and have always been happy in the end. Nice 1800, you'll see that I'm a big fan of the 1800 on my site here .

I shipped an MGB from NM to Jersey. $3000 3-4 years ago They knocked off $500 if I delivered it to a truck stop. I used a brokerage I found on the net. Got quotes from 4-5 shippers. If you have flexibility, they will lower the price if you work around their schedule. Being on I-40 was a plus because a lot of cars move from California to points east.

Welcome to CO! My buddy buys cars and has them shipped. Depending upon running condition (and distance) he's paid anywhere from $800 (nonrunner from CA) to $1200 (for a nonrunning car shipped from South Carolina).

I know that my local car museum uses Uship to move the cars and merchandise (gas pumps, car parts, etx). They kinda act like a middle man and let others bid on your load. They've used them for years without issue. Maybe just publish it there and see what happens.

I have used these guys before. Shipped an EVO XIII from Pittsburgh to Colorado Springs for less than $1000.

I also had my Wagon shipped from California for less than $1000 to my front door.

Thanks to all for the comments and welcoming me to Colorado. Loving it so far.

I need to do a little write up on my 1800. It has a mildly tuned engine with a low compression head (B20F) and is running MegaSquirt with Spark, plan has always been to add a turbo. Also has a T-5 WC transmission swapped in for the stock Volvo unit.

I posted to U-Ship, getting some bids already. Cheers!
